Who’s Church Are We?

1 Corinthians 1:11-13, ‘My brothers, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; “I follow Cephas (Peter)”; still another, “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?’ The body of Christ has become so stratified nowadays yet we are supposed to be one for how many bodies does the head, who is Christ Jesus, have but one. We have allowed our own petty differences, competitions and comparisons to confuse and inflame us to the point of hating each other rather than loving each other as commanded by the Lord. We are now followers of the servants of God instead of the Lord Himself. We have forgotten that the church is the fellowship of believers and now have limited into identifying ourselves with the physical church we attend. The church has been taken over by religion, where doctrine has become more importa...

Mentorship

Proverbs 27:17, ‘As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.’ The society, and by extent the church today is short of men and women of character and that is why the next generation might not have real men and women because it take one to nurture one. This is the essence of mentorship, that one can only give another what he possess himself. If you as a young person want to have the qualities of integrity, maturity, kindness, courtesy, humility and peace then you cannot attain them if your mentor or role model is one who is dishonest, rude, immature, prideful and unruly, it cannot just happen. Friends also mould and shape us because we spend most of our social time with them, we ask for their input when we are faced with the dilemmas of life and so we also need to choose them wisely. If you want to know the character of a man, look at his friends.

The Chosen People Of God

1 Peter 2:9,10, ‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.’ God has called us who believe in Christ into His family to be His sons and daughters. We belong to Him through Jesus and as faithful children we are supposed to honor Him with praise and worship for He us brought us out of the clutches of the Devil into His wonderful light that now shines in and through us so that we cannot remain hidden but testify to the world of His glorious love for man and His sweet promise to them that believe in Jesus Christ. We have received mercy for all our sins, not because we are righteous but as a gift from Him to bring us closer to Himself, by our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

The Fellowship of Brethren

Hebrews 10:19-25, ´Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing , but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.´ Jesus ascended to heaven and entered the Most Holy Place, seated at the right hand of God, offering His sacrifice, Himself, and is interceding on our behalf, asking for forgiveness for our sins, and us seated in Him in heaven can access God w...
