We Need Spiritual Growth

1 Peter 2:1-3, ‘Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.’ When you accept Jesus as lord in your life, then you need to make a conscious effort to shun everything that is negative. The only way to do that is by reading the scriptures so that they may nourish you and help you grow spiritually. We are not meant to be stagnant and struggle with the same things since our salvation. We need to put on the armor of Christ as we prepare ourselves for the spiritual war that we face daily. We need some spiritual growth.

God Is Love

1 Peter 1:22,23, ‘Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.’ God is love, and the best way you can demonstrate that is by loving Him and loving your fellow brothers and sisters as he showed us. Jesus summarized all the laws into two, love your God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbors as yourself. If you have been touched by the love of Christ in your heart, if you are saved by the Holy blood of Christ, then you must have love, you must preach love for all, and you must exhibit love.

Jesus The Lamb of God

1 Peter 1:17-21, ‘Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him, and so your faith and hope are in God.’ Each man, whether a believer or not will ultimately face judgment from God for His actions during the brief stay in this world on The Day. The good news for believers is that because of Jesus the Christ, your sins are blotted out from the sight of God because they were placed on and paid in full by Jesus at the cross. Now God in His divine wisdom saw it fit that men should be redeemed from the penal

Power Over Sin

1 Peter 1:13-15, ‘Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;’ When Jesus was crucified at the cross, He saved us from the penalty of sin which is death. Our sins were forgiven not because we were righteous or we deserved it, but we were credited righteous by the Father because we placed our faith and hope in Him. On His resurrection, He has given us power over sin, we now have the power to overcome and resist temptation. Most of us who believe do not however appreciate this and we continue to live as we did in our former lives, cowering and despairing, feeling hopeless and succumbing to temptations all the while having the power over all things of this world that we access through Him who was given this authority. Our holiness is

Are You Going Where God is Going

Where are you? Where are you going? Are you going where God is going? God put this message in my heart, and I typically would post my messages in a status, but this one is lengthy, please, bear with me, I request of you. One of the easiest things for human beings to do is to be stagnant, to settle in one place, build around that place, and seek to go no further. We are not fans of change, or constant movement, quite frankly we despise it, because it costs us. What does it cost us? It costs us the ease of remaining in our comfort place, it causes us to give up what we have established, it costs us when we have to move from the known to the unknown, when we have to leave our traditions and formalities behind for something new, something different, it costs us when we have to change our own way, or a way passed on to us, for a new way. You may have noticed today that one of the big issues large organizations and businesses deal with daily, is the reluctance which we have towards c

Our Faith is in Christ

1 Peter 1:8,9, ‘Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.’ All who believe in God do so in faith. We believe in faith that the bible is the word of God, a revelation of Christ to man, we believe in Jesus to be the Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who is fully divine and came to earth to be the son of man. We believe that His crucifixion was by divine design to unite us to God. We believe that He was raised on the third day by God, and ascended to be seated at the right hand of the Father. In faith we believe that our sins are forgiven when we confess our sins to Christ, in faith we believe that we die in Christ at the cross to our sinful life and nature, and are resurrected in Him as new beings full of power and eternal life, in faith we believe we are seated in Him at heavenly places at th

Strengthening Your Faith

1 Peter 1:7, ‘These (all kinds of trials) have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.’ This world is full of trials and tribulations and many of us when faced we go around sad and feeling persecuted. But look at it this way, our Lord controls everything of this world, because control was given to Him, and if you are facing a trial, He has allowed you to face it for a reason, and the reason is for you to be shaped, molded and matured spiritually. Just like a pearl is shaped due to an irritation, a believer’s faith in the one who called us to Himself is built up. So when you face these trials, do not despair but rejoice because He that is in you is still doing His work in you to make you whole and without blemish, a pure bride for His second coming.

Breaking From The Past

Isaiah 43:18, 19, ‘Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.’ When you become a believer, you are born again and are a new being in Christ dead to His former life that was in bondage to sin. But how many of us really shed off that longing of the former sinful life we had, how many of us let go of the guilt of sin that was gnawing at us. Christ is in us doing His work in us and will continue to do so until we become finished, a master piece. Even though now we may be feeling undeserving, unworthy of His love, His promise, His faithfulness abides forever and He will never forsake us. His love for us is everlasting. All we need is to place our faith in Him; and with this faith you will be able to see and receive His promise for you, you will be able to see His work in you and you will be able to break from the hold of your past and be free in de

God Knows All

Job 42:3, ‘…Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.’ We live in this world proclaiming to know everything about everything, labeling the bible as a bunch of lies, and claiming that our evidence supports the non existence of God. Just look at the evolution of our knowledge throughout man’s history will reveal that in reality we know nothing. Scientists believe that religion and science to be parallel which might be true; but you cannot separate yourself from God just because you are a scientist. Religion is not God; God is love and is the source of all knowledge. Just look at all the inventions that man has made throughout civilization, don’t you agree that they came at just the right time for mankind. Professed atheists and all non believers for that matter that eventually give their lives to the Lord appreciate what that Job after his tribulations, that even though we may not know or understand everything, our hope resides in the Lord in wh

What is faith?

Being a believer is synonymous with faith, so what is this faith. Paul tells us what faith is in Hebrews 11:1, ´Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.´ There are two things that essential for you to have faith. The first is that you need to have an intimate knowledge of God and with this knowledge you will know that He loves you so much and He is good with plans meant to prosper you. The second thing that arises from the first is that you must place your trust and hope in Him by submitting yourself to His will and being obedient and doing what He requires of you. His faithfulness to us really builds our faith upon Him because the more you let go and cede control to Him by placing greater faith in the Lord, the more you will see His faithfulness in your life and the more you will be confident and trust in Him and have more faith in Him. We need to trust and obey to be happy in Jesus, we need to believe and have faith in Him.

Perseverance

Hebrews 10:32-39, Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in an earlier contest in the face of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. For in just a very little while, ¨He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if He shrinks back I will not be pleased with him.¨ Habakkuk 2:3,4 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe are saved.´ All who accept Jesus and His Lordship over their lives face some sort of persecu

Hear Ye and Repent

Hebrews 10:26-29, ´If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who insulted the Spirit of grace? There is only one way that we can be sanctified from sin and its power and that is by allowing Jesus to be master in our lives, by subjugating our will to His. Our justification came from Jesus through the cross and the moment you hear of this and are convicted of your sins by the Holy Spirit, you have no excuse at all for continuing to live in bondage to sin. To be justified you must believe in Jesus and to reject Him is to rejec

The Fellowship of Brethren

Hebrews 10:19-25, ´Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing , but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.´ Jesus ascended to heaven and entered the Most Holy Place, seated at the right hand of God, offering His sacrifice, Himself, and is interceding on our behalf, asking for forgiveness for our sins, and us seated in Him in heaven can access God w

The Gift of Grace

Hebrews 10:18, ´ And where these (sins) have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.´ We are already justified by Christ at the cross for he died to satisfy the penalty of sin, that is death, so that all our sins are forgiven and we overcome death and gain everlasting life. The sacrifice of Christ at the cross was sufficient once and for all that no sin is left unforgiven. Now this unmerited gift from God that we receive through His boundless grace, we receive only when we believe in Him who He loves so much and through whom He offered the gift, and that is our Lord Jesus the Christ.

I Am Forgiven

Hebrews 10:18, ´ And where these (sins) have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.´ At the cross, all sins, past and present have been forgiven and hence there is no need for any other sacrifice. To get access to this forgiveness, all you need to do is to believe in God, His Son and His offer of salvation for you. Grant Him Lordship over your life, repent from your sins and turn away from sinful life then allow Him to complete His work in and through you for the glory of His kingdom. God loves you so much that He offered up His only son, who did not deserve it, to die in our place so that we could be redeemed and offer us the gift of being joint heirs with Him in the inheritance the Holy Father has in store for us. All we need to do is to make that choice of letting Him into our lives, and surrender the rest to Him.

Free in Deed

Hebrews 10:1-4, ´The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming – not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sin, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.' The law or commandments were only a pointer to Jesus Christ for as the law brought realization of sin to men and death, Jesus Christ brought salvation and life. The annual sacrifices of atonement offered by the Jews were an imitation of the final sacrifice to be offered through Jesus the Christ. Unlike the sacrifice of animals that had to be done every year, the death of Christ Jesus, came once for all, so that we are set free and are free in deed.

Conquerors Through Christ

Hebrews 9:16-18 and 9:22-28, ´ In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. It was necessary, then, for copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ did not enter a man made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; He entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God´s presence. Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, the way the High Priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now He ha

New Covenant, One Sacrifice

Hebrews 9:6-15, ´When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing. This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. They are only a matter of food and drinks and various ceremonial washings – external regulations applying until the time of the new order. When Christ came as high priest of good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man made, that is to say, not part of this creation. He did not enter by me

Jesus the High Priest of the Better Covenant

Hebrews 7:11-28 , ´If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come – one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? For when there is a change in priesthood, there must also be a change of the law. He of whom these things are said belonged to a different tribe, and no one from that tribe has ever served at the altar. For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests. And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: ¨You are a priest for ever, in the order of Melchizedek.¨(Psalm 110:4), The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing per

Vigilance

Hebrews 6:10-12, ´God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show the same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.´ The Devil is relentless in His quest to make you stumble so that you may not enjoy the inheritance promised to you by God through Christ. He continuously tempts us with sin more so in our moments of weakness. We need to strengthen our faith and develop our spiritual strength so that we become strong in Christ and are able to overcome this temptations. God is faithful and will fulfill His promises to us that we received through and in Christ as we reap each according to what we have sown. But it will be a shame if we lose out because we faltered just when we were about to finish the race, when we were abo

Is Your Faith Bearing Fruit

Hebrews 6:7-8, ´Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessings of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.´ The word of God that we receive is like the rain on a parched land that nourishes it back to life. When we receive this word, we are brought back from the brink of death to an everlasting life. Now to us that have received the word, there are two expectations placed upon us. First we must not remain spiritual infants who are weak and continuously falling into the temptations of Satan and Secondly, we should share the good news and bring others to Christ Jesus. We have a responsibility of facilitating our spiritual growth improving our relationship in and with Christ by reading the scriptures to strengthen our faith and banish our ignorance of the truth, regularly going to God in prayer, continuo

Falling of the redeemed

Hebrews 6:4-6, ´It is impossible for those that have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to a public disgrace.´ Jesus is the truth and the light to the world and when you accept Him into your life as your Mighty Lord ans Savior and surrender your life unto Him, you become enlightened. The truths of this world become clear to you and you gain divine wisdom. You receive the Holy Spirit, joy and peace into your heart because of the love of God you are experiencing in your life. But Satan tempts us every minute of our lives so that we \may fall from God´s grace and if we allow ourselves to fall again from this state of knowledge of the truth and surrender our lives back to Him, the Devil will

Are You A Mature Christian?

Hebrews 6:1-2, ´Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instructions about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.´ How many of us consider ourselves to be mature Christians, to be ready for the solid food, and yet how many of us flounder with what Paul considered to be the fundamental teachings about our Lord. And for those that do know the basics, do you share with those of us that are less knowledgeable, do you have the patience to teach those of us who are slow to learn over and over again. Until and unless we have the basics about Christ through constant use, we will not be able to live in righteousness. So we ask those of us that are mature in Christ, to never give up and be ever patient with us who are slow learners so that we may be in a position to understand the teaching of rig

Confidence in Christ

Hebrews 4:14-16, ´Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.´ A high priest was chosen of God to offer gifts and sacrifices for man´s sins. Jesus offered the perfect gift that is final and complete, and that is Himself, by dying at the cross, so that there is no need for another sin offering to be made on our behalf. Since Jesus walked the earth as the son of man, undergoing all the tests and temptations that men face, he is able to deal with me gently in my ignorance and when I go astray, guide my steps in paths of righteousness, so that by His amazing and abounding gra

Faith the Key to Salvation

Hebrews 4:1-2, ´Therefore since the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.´ The good news that is the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is preached to everyone through God´s grace so that no one may say I never received it and we may all benefit from it and gain eternal life in Him but for some of us who hear it, our lives are not touched, enriched and ultimately saved from eternal damnation because we do not believe in the good news and in Christ Himself. Salvation of man by the grace of God comes only by faith in Him, through and to whom all things flow, so that no one may boast. There is no other way other than to trust and obey our Lord Jesus Christ, to allow Him to be master over our lives, to do His will, to allow oursel

Jesus the Lamb of God

Hebrews 3:14-18, ´Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy Him who holds the power of death – that is, the devil – and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels He helps, but Abraham´s descendants. For this reason He had to be made like His brothers in every way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.´ The devil, enticed man to sin, so that he rebelled against God and the law which requires that the wages of sin be death, therefore man´s death was demanded for the law to be fulfilled. But God the Father in His divine plan full of grace, sent us Jesus the Christ, His divine Son, to live as a man, be tested in the same way as we are, yet remaining

God´s Amazing Grace

Hebrews 2:14-18, ´Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death – that is, the devil – and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels He helps, but Abraham´s descendants. For this very reason He had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service of God, and that He might make atonement for the sin of the people. Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.´ This scripture reveals the reason why Jesus the Christ had to come to die on earth, it was for me, a wretched sinner, so that I could be freed from the hold of the devil and sin through and in Him therefore overcoming death because He paid the price or requirement of the law in my place that required my death as wages for my sins. Through Him, I a

Joyful Living Amid Trials

Jesus himself told us that this world we live in is full of trouble that we encounter on a daily basis but reassured us that he had already overcome the world. So how are we supposed to live in this world of strife? By being joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer. The scriptures tells us the attitude we need to have when faced with trials and tribulations in James 1:2-4 ´Consider it pure joy , my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking in anything.´ We face these trials as a necessity for growth and strengthening of our faith in God and in order to overcome our sinful nature so that eventually we are able to live naturally in the reborn state of righteousness in Christ Jesus. We are God´s workmanship continually being afforded this opportunities of discomfort that are ultimately meant to make us into c

God is Love

Our God the Almighty is unchanging and He declared it when He said ´I am who I am´ and that He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow yet some say there is a difference between the God of the Old testament and the new testament. They say that in the Old testament God was harsh while in the new testament He was more loving. But He is the same and has not changed a bit. The ten commandments given to Moses at Mount Sinai by God in Exodus 20:1-17, are edicts of what we are not supposed to do because before the coming of Christ, our hearts were stony and were rebellious so as to guide our actions towards being obedient to and LOVING Him. The law was not an end unto itself and was not our way to salvation but due to our deadened hearts, it was meant to lead us to where God ultimately lead us through Jesus. When Jesus came to earth, He summed the ten commandments up into two in Mark 12:28-31, ´One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus

The power of speech

The tongue physically is the strongest human muscle. Speech can be used for either good or bad, to heal or hurt, bring freedom or bondage, show the way or mislead. Speech can also be passed down from one generation to the next. Young children pick what their parents and elders say. We need to be in control of our tongues lest they land us into trouble.

Vanity of Life Without God

Most of us believe that we can exclude God from our lives, that we can do things on our own, but all this is vanity. We remove our trust in God and place it in mere men and things that are our own creation. Nothing made by man is full proof and will surely become undone by the mighty power of God. This vanity of men is shown in the scriptures in Psalms 127:1-2, ´Unless the Lord builds the house, its laborers labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat – for he grants sleep to those he loves.´ and Psalms, ´146:3-4, ´Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.´ We need to put all our trust in the Lord. So what does putting your trust in God grant you? FREEDOM. Freedom from affliction, iniquity, injustice, oppression, bondage - you name it

My Testimony

My apologies for not posting here for a while now. This is due to being distracted by the worries of this world. Lately my life has been in a Luke 8:7 moment, ´Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants.´ where my faith has been undermined by the worries of life. Today I felt like the spirit wants me to share my testimony with you, so here goes. At the beginning of 2010, my life seemed to be on a high. I had a promising career, I was in full control of my life, I was having the fun of my life, life with my young family was just starting out, I had these great plans, or so it seemed. This may sound cliché but something was missing. It was empty. In an attempt to fill the void I was partying hard drinking 750ml vodka at a sitting on a regular basis. Alcohol consumption for me was on a daily basis. I had an affair as that seemed to be the in thing. At our end year party done in early 2010, I put my foot in my mouth after drinking too muc

Strength in God

Psalm 37:23-24 says, ´If the Lord delights in a man´s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumbles, he will not fall for the Lord upholds him with his hand.´ A powerful statement indeed. If you please God by accepting Him, trusting Him and following His commands, he will be faithful to us. He will give you the strength to continue in the path of righteousness and should you stumble by committing sin, God will give you opportunities to redeem yourself. How? By using others to bring you back to the fold. In the history of man, there is no one who exemplifies this like David. God was pleased with him and called him ´a man after his own heart´ but David stumbled many a times but God was faithful to Him and forgave him when he repented. In God you find the ultimate power to overcome your sinful nature. We are able to overcome the temptations and traps laid by the devil for us. With God behind you who can be against you. You will become an overcomer and prevail und

Good Works And Christianity

Christianity is synonymous with good because our God´s nature is good. The theme is replicated all over the scriptures. One cannot be a Christian and not have good works. The fruits of the Holy Spirit that lives within us after accepting Christ are guide us to do good works as shown in Galatians 5:22-23, ´But the fruits of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control...´ These good works should not be done for publicity´s sake so that we may get the approval of men but should be done in silence because God sees what is done in secret and will reward you for it. It should also not be done so that we may exalt ourselves in our eyes as being righteous because good works do not benefit God but our fellow man. Our good works should also be extended to those that we consider to be our enemies and/ or those that hate us as guided by the Lord Jesus. Doing good to those who are good to us is easy and expected but doing i

The Power of Dwelling in The Lord

when you build your life around Christ, no one and nothing can touch you. You will be protected from the evil traps set for you. You will find refuge under his wings. You will find yourself being fearless in the midst of turmoil just as in Psalms 91:5-16, ´You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you make the Most High your dwelling – even the Lord who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the s

False Teachers

After making the bold decision of accepting Christ into your life as Lord and Saviour, you need to decide on the church to go to in your quest of knowing more about the Lord. But this is not as easy as it seems because there are many false teachers around peddling false doctrine in their attempt to ensnare the new converts and mislead them from the true knowledge of Christ.  So what do false prophets engage in, one they devote their time and topics to myths and endless genealogies of Christ aimed at promoting controversies rather than God´s work of faith. Their preachings have turned from preaching God´s love that stem from a pure heart, good conscience and sincere faith and turned to meaningless talk. They talk so confidently but do not understand what they say. Paul told us of the rise and characteristics of false prophets during the later days in 1 Timothy 4:1, 'The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits

Unanswered Prayers

When you pray with covetousness in you heart God will not answer you. We pray when we are envious of our neighbor and want what he has, or so we may have more than them, or for fame God will not answer as shown in James 4:3, 'When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.' God sees the motives in our heart, even when we ourselves do not want to see it. Sincere prayers for those that have submitted themselves to the Lord will be answered as the Lord will bless you exceedingly above and beyond your supplications. The other thing we need to understand that God´s will is supreme, He is good in nature and therefore whatever He wills for us is good for us. When Jesus was praying at Mount Gethsemane at His final hour, He prayed for the ´cup´ to be taken away from Him but He also acknowledged that if it was God´s will that He drink it, then God´s will be done (He was referring to His imminent crucifixion Math

The Armour of God

The struggles that men face in this world are not of flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil. We are not fighting against fellow men but men who are slaves to the authorities, powers and principalities of the heavenly realm. The evil forces are under the command of the devil and his schemes are to cause us to rebel in disobedience against God. Paul said this best in Ephesians 12, ´For our struggle is not against flash and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly reams.´    Therefore we cannot overcome this forces with natural and human forces but with spiritual forces of good. We have to put on the armour at our disposal from God in order to realise the victory that is already ours. He explains to us what the armour of God is in Ephesians 14-17, ´Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, an

Leave judgment to God

We are meant to live judgment of the wicked to God. We should be careful of who we choose as our role models. We naturally envy those that are with material wealth but it is upon us to determine to what extent they motivate us banishing what they do that is evil. We are supposed to delight in the Lord and live righteous lives irregardless of what the rest are doing. Do not focus on the wicked for they will rile you up and stir up anger and vengeance in your heart that may cause you to sin. Vengeance is the Lord´s and he will give them their due in His own time. This is seen in Psalm 37:1-10, ´Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and dwell in the land and enjoy safe pastures. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine

Psalm 33:1-3,

´Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. Praise the Lord with harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skilfully, and shout for joy.´

Who are used by Christ?

The teachers of the olden days when Christ began His ministry used to take the cream of the crop as their students; the intelligent, the gifted and astute students. The rest would then go back to their family business as carpenters, doctors, fishermen etc. When Jesus began His Ministry, he chose those that had been considered as chaff by the prominent teachers of the day, the common everyday people, as His disciples, a telling example. They were not masters of the law. It is evident that Christ came for sinners and works through them. Paul was the most accomplished apostle having written many of the new testament books and being accredited with championing the spread of the gospel to areas outside the Hebrew lands. But before being commissioned into Christ´s mission, he was a persecutor, a blasphemer and a man of violence which he concedes himself in 1 Timothy 1:15-16,´Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus into the world for sinners – of whom I am

Psalm 150: Praising God Indeed

Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for his acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute, praise Him with the clash of cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

My Shepherd

The safety and comfort I feel since I accepted Christ Jesus as my Lord and Saviour is unmatched. I know that He is always there for me, guiding my steps, watching over me and protecting me from my enemies. That he willingly died for me even before I knew and accepted Him, not because I deserved it but due to my Holy Father´s Grace reveals to me the extent of love that my God has for me. There is a passage I read that just blew my mind away in terms of my Lord´s love for me and felt like sharing it with you in hopes it will bring the same conviction it did for me. Psalm 23, ´The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. (In Him I overcome my sinful desires), He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. (You need to hand over the reins of your life to Him so that he may guide you to salvation) He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name´s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evi

Faith

We receive salvation by faith but what is this faith? We are told what faith is in Hebrews 11:1, ´Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.' How do we exercise this faith, by accepting that the universe was formed at God´s command and that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, given as sacrifice to atone for our sins and only through Him do we attain salvation. Without faith we cannot be with God, why? we are told this in Hebrew 11:6, 'And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.' By faith We accept that the Scriptures are a revelation about God by God. All those who were faithful to God till in death did not receive what God had promised them but saw and welcomed them from a distance. Abraham, who had been promised by God that through Isaac He will raise a great nation still was willing to offer him as sacrifice be

Contentment

The world has misled us to put so much faith in material wealth, put so much emphasis on accumulating more at all expense. It causes some of us to be envious of those who have more than us, taking them as our role models in life striving to live as they do even when if what they do is wrong. On the other hand, some of us who are rich tend to be arrogant and put our hope in our money, a vanity. The fear of losing our wealth and thus our power makes us to be so selfish becoming stingy and selfish. This is best explained in 1 Timothy 6:9-10, 'People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.´ We are required to accept our circumstances with grace, during both the good times and the bad. We acknowledge that everything comes from God as sh

The Lord´s Protects His People

Psalms 125:1-2, ´Those who trust in the Lord are like mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures for ever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people both now and for evermore.´ Wouldn´t it be something to be watched over by the full force and mighty power of God. It is possible for us to be protected by Him and all we have to do is to place our TRUST in our heavenly Father. Just imagine having the angels of the Lord at your disposal. It is attainable, all you need to do is believe.

Praying For Our Leaders

How many of us pray for our leaders when we pray to the Lord. Did we know that the Lord advocates for it because it His plan to save everyone. This is found in 1 Timothy 2:1-4, 'I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of truth.´ So today, as you say your prayers, remember your leaders whoever they are.

Sharpen the Saw

When an athlete is preparing for a tournament, he undergoes a rigorous training regiment to make himself physically fit. This scenario is replicated elsewhere when we are preparing ourselves for something major; a warrior cleans and sharpens his weaponry, a carpenter sharpens his saw, a teacher sharpens his mind. We need to train ourselves to be godly and alert, as we prepare ourselves in living in righteousness now and forever more. Paul told us this in 1 Timothy 4:8, 'For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.' If we do this the outcome will be reflected in our lives in how we relate to our neighbors, how we act, what we say. If we live in pretense of being righteous, our lack of genuineness will always come out the same way it will also come out if we are sincerely righteous. All will come out before men and before our Living God as revealed in 1 Timothy 5:24-25, 'Th

Wages of Sin

When Adam sinned and rebelled against God he was told of the consequences by God in Genesis 3:16-19, namely pain, hard toil, death (separation from God). This is reinforced in Romans 6:23, 'For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.' Death of man is separation from God and His Kingdom and without God man will always fill incomplete, unfulfilled, always yearning for something that will never be found in worldly things. The mind of the man who lives in sin is not open to God. He sees the word of God as foolishness, trying to prove the Word a fallacy as shown in Romans 8:6-8, 'The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God. It does not submit to God´s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.' Sin makes us blind to the love of God and His master plan for our salvation. We deny God´

Praise the Lord From Your Soul

How good it is to sing praises to our God, How pleasant and fitting to praise Him. The Lord is our creator, He does so many wonderful and miraculous things in our lives and not because we deserve them but because of His Grace, unwarranted favor. So what praise songs should we sing to Him?, of all the mighty and wondrous things He has done, of how He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds, of His greatness and mighty power, of His sustenance of the humble, of thanksgiving for all the blessings He showers upon us and of His Amazing Grace through which we have received a gift like no other of eternal life, of salvation from damnation. Our spirit towards praise should be as in Psalm 146:1-2 that says , ´Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.´ Praise be to the Most High.

The Sinner´s Cry

Image
Our human nature is predisposed to sin and for those that do not know the gift of God´s grace feel like they are doomed to damnation. They live in condemnation both from themselves and from others due to their shortfalls. But do you know that all can be forgiven only if you call upon the Lord and confess your sins. The sinner's cry; being the substance of a sermon, preached at Trinity Chapel, Windmill-Street, Upper Moorfields, on Sunday evening, January the 27th, 1793 by the Rev. Thomas Smith, ... The Lord hears your call and will wash away your sins so that you will no longer be guilt ridden. We can see the sinners cry in Psalms 130:1-4, ´Out of the depths I cry to you O Lord; O lord hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, O lord, kept a record of sins, O lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared.´ And after making the call and repenting your sins, you are supposed to accept Christ and make Him your Lord a
