Contentment

The world has misled us to put so much faith in material wealth, put so much emphasis on accumulating more at all expense. It causes some of us to be envious of those who have more than us, taking them as our role models in life striving to live as they do even when if what they do is wrong. On the other hand, some of us who are rich tend to be arrogant and put our hope in our money, a vanity. The fear of losing our wealth and thus our power makes us to be so selfish becoming stingy and selfish. This is best explained in 1 Timothy 6:9-10, 'People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.´
We are required to accept our circumstances with grace, during both the good times and the bad. We acknowledge that everything comes from God as shown in 1 Timothy 6:6-8, ´But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.´
