Immanuel – God With Us

Joshua 1:5-10, ‘“No-one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” So Joshua ordered the officers of the people…’ Moses was a great man of God and was able to do numerous miracles. After he died, Joshua, his assistant that had been groomed as successor was called to fill in the big shoes that Mose...

Fear Not

Psalm 118:6, ‘The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?’ Imagine this believer; the creator has got your back. What a wonderful thought that is, to possess the knowledge that the Almighty, Holy God is always with you. If you possess this knowledge, this truth, then despair and fear of men and angels should not grasp you. You should not allow anxiety to grip and envelop your heart even when you are confronted by troubles, trials and persecutions because He who is with you is greater than all that come against you. What might seem impossible to you is possible to Him because everything is possible through Him. He has you in the palm of your hand and no one can snatch you away from His grasp. Replace fear with faith and hope, trusting in the Lord’s faithfulness to help you through your problems and afflictions. Your enemies, both physical and spiritual, may gnash their teeth at you, plotting and planning your demise but God works out everything for the good of t...

The Power of Generosity

Psalm 112:5-8, ‘Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice. Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered for ever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.’ We live in a world that justifies the means used by the end sought; we lie, cheat and steal all in the name of acquiring wealth and status. We have replaced justice and equity with a clogged up, blind and unfair legal system that is tied up and led by not what is wrong or right but by rules and regulations. It teaches us to view our success with our accumulation. We hoard and accumulate and become stingy where someone with millions in his account will not even spare a few hundreds of shillings to provide just a single meal to a starving neighbor. But the living word of God teaches us that for us to receive; we need to generously a...

Trust in the Lord

Proverbs 21:31, ‘The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.’ We need to place all our trust and hope in the Lord for nothing is possible apart from Him but everything is possible through Him. Trusting in ourselves is futile because we cannot control anything and everything happens by the will of God. Trusting in ourselves is a form of pride and rebellion where we exalt our own way, thinking, plans above those of the Lord. God is faithful and will honor His promises if we come to Him in faith.

The Chosen

John 15:16, ‘You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.’ Jesus chose each and every one of us in Him to do His purpose and will. Even before He formed us, He knew us, before we were born, He set us apart, anointing us for His will and purpose, and therefore we should not be discouraged, fearful or ashamed for He has good plans for us, to bear good fruit according to His will and purpose for His eternal glory, praise be to God. We can therefore approach the throne of grace with confidence of asking anything according to His will and purpose of our lives because we have already received it through the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for we that believe in Him, called to Him for His purpose, are now in Him, clothed in His righteousness and seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

Promotion in Christ

John 15:14, 15, ‘You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from the Father I have made known to you.’ In Jesus we are now joint heirs of the promises made by the Father having power and authority and dominion over everything of this world and the one to come through Jesus. Rejoice because we are no longer servants but brothers with Christ, sharing with Him His glory. Having learned everything from Him, we are now empowered with the knowledge of truth and no longer fall prey to the Devil who prowls like a lion waiting for someone to devour. We are now able to resist the Devil in Christ. Then what shall I say of the Day that He promised to come back in full glory, I longingly await for it with joy and hope trusting that I will be made just as He is, having been crowned with His righteousness, because my God is faithful and will not ...

The Way to Life

John 14:6, 7, ‘Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.’ If anyone wants to have eternal life then the only way to attain it is through and in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. God in His divine wisdom crafted a plan to redeem man from the bondage and slavery of sin through His Son, Jesus the Christ. In Christ, God punished all the sins of mankind to satisfy the justice of His divine law that dictates that the wages or just payment for sin is death and total separation from Him. Through Christ, we exchange our sinfulness for His righteousness, we exchange our weakness for His power and authority over the world and sin, we exchange our condemnation and guilt for His innocence, we become conquerors through Christ who strengthens us, we are victors in Him, claiming victory over sin in a battle that He fought for us, and we g...

The Power of Unity

Mathew 18:19,20, ‘Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in Heaven. For where two or three come in together my name, there am I with them.’ The church is a fellowship of two or more believers and where believers gather, Jesus Christ, who is the groom of the church is also present. When we are united, we exhibit and experience the love of God in our lives. When we come before Him in this love and ask for anything in faith, God is faithful and will answer our prayer. This revelation means that a praying husband and wife have immense power to influence and change the world. If they come together in prayer before God, and ask for anything according to His will, they are bound to receive it abundantly above and beyond, what they asked for or imagined receiving. Therefore for our prayers to be answered, we need to stay in unity as a church.

Power over the World

Mathew 18:18, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’ We have been given authority from heaven by God the Father through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior in whom we have placed all our hope and trust to overcome everything of and in this world. Whatever we bind or set loose from our lives, the Father, who is just and faithful, because we ask in faith, will bind it in heaven, and it will be bound here on earth. All we have to do is to believe in the Son that He sent to redeem and renew us, have faith in that He is faithful and will do all that He promised us.

Grace of God

Titus 3:4-8, ‘But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.’ Salvation comes to us as a gift of God by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ. No one can claim to have earned his salvation because none of us is worthy; we are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. Through Jesus the Christ, we are credited with righteousness before God and we therefore have the confidence to stand before Him in prayer. At baptism...

Delight in the Fear of the Lord

Isaiah 11:1-5, ‘A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of Wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and the Spirit of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord – and He will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what He sees with His eyes, or decide by what He hears with His ears; but with righteousness He will judge the needy, with justice He will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the world with the rod of His mouth; with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be His belt and faithfulness the sash around the waist.’ Jesus came and gave us an example of how we should relate to our Father in heaven. We should delight in the fear of the Lord, walking in the righteousness of Christ. Jesus came for the needy and the poor, those that needed renewal and rebirth of the spirit and were broken and poor ...

My Salvation

Isaiah 12:1-3, ‘In that day you will say: “I will praise you, O Lord. Although you were angry with me, your anger turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.’ We were sinners, facing a hopeless and miserable end, but the Lord God, even when we were His enemies; He came down and died for us, to give us salvation. In His great mercy He has forgiven and forgotten our numerous iniquities. He has become our Savior, comforting us, encouraging us, building us up, so that we may become complete, mature in Him. He strengthens us in our times of weakness; he is our only hope of salvation and life. Rejoice as you draw the water of eternal life from Him and quench your thirst.

Patience in God’s Faithfulness

Psalm 27:13,14, ‘I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.’ We are by nature impatient expecting what we want when we want it, but God in His divine wisdom, having seen the beginning from the end knows what is good for us and when it is good for us. Therefore our time might not be God’s time. For some of us, we allow doubts and worry to creep into our minds, making us sad and miserable. We stop believing in the promises we have received from God and then try to make it on our own, do things our own way, often leading to pain and suffering. Abraham and Sarah had to wait for years to receive the promised son, but somewhere down the line, they got tired and tried to do things their own way that brought suffering for them. Let us learn to be patient and faithfully wait for God to fulfill His promises to us.

Focus on Jesus

Mathew 14:29-31, ‘“Come,” he (Jesus) said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.’ Many of us when we receive an inspiring word from God, we are full of faith and we believe in Jesus. We take hold of the promise God has put in us and move in power in it accomplishing amazing and supernatural feats, walking on water so to speak. At that moment our eyes are firmly fixed on Jesus who is our Lord. But the moment we start to experience some turbulence, opposition, trouble, we start to doubt, we panic and start to focus on them rather than on who gave us the promise and power and our faith in the promise of God start to weaken and then we begin to sink. At that moment our Lord who is faithful and full of love for us reaches out and catches us from sinking in the dark bottomless pit. For our faith to gr...

The Chosen People Of God

1 Peter 2:9,10, ‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.’ God has called us who believe in Christ into His family to be His sons and daughters. We belong to Him through Jesus and as faithful children we are supposed to honor Him with praise and worship for He us brought us out of the clutches of the Devil into His wonderful light that now shines in and through us so that we cannot remain hidden but testify to the world of His glorious love for man and His sweet promise to them that believe in Jesus Christ. We have received mercy for all our sins, not because we are righteous but as a gift from Him to bring us closer to Himself, by our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Jesus The Lamb of God

1 Peter 1:17-21, ‘Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him, and so your faith and hope are in God.’ Each man, whether a believer or not will ultimately face judgment from God for His actions during the brief stay in this world on The Day. The good news for believers is that because of Jesus the Christ, your sins are blotted out from the sight of God because they were placed on and paid in full by Jesus at the cross. Now God in His divine wisdom saw it fit that men should be redeemed from the penal...

Conquerors Through Christ

Hebrews 9:16-18 and 9:22-28, ´ In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. It was necessary, then, for copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ did not enter a man made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; He entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God´s presence. Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, the way the High Priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now He ha...

New Covenant, One Sacrifice

Hebrews 9:6-15, ´When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing. This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. They are only a matter of food and drinks and various ceremonial washings – external regulations applying until the time of the new order. When Christ came as high priest of good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man made, that is to say, not part of this creation. He did not enter by me...

Jesus the High Priest of the Better Covenant

Hebrews 7:11-28 , ´If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come – one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? For when there is a change in priesthood, there must also be a change of the law. He of whom these things are said belonged to a different tribe, and no one from that tribe has ever served at the altar. For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests. And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared: ¨You are a priest for ever, in the order of Melchizedek.¨(Psalm 110:4), The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing per...

We are Incomplete

When one makes the decision to accept Jesus Christ as His Lord and that He died for your sake so that you may receive eternal life, there is usually an expectation of change. You cannot go to God and remain the same for before you were living in sin but now you pursue righteousness as shown in Romans 6:2, '...we died to sin; how can we live in it any longer.' These initial times are usually the challenging times in a christian's life. But God will never leave you alone during these time of great need. You join Christ by faith and then you begin to know Him by reading the Word as is written in the bible and through prayer and fellowship. When Jesus was leaving the disciples so that they start preaching of the gospel, he told them he would send them something to help them as shown in Luke 24:49, 'I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power on high.' The helper was the Holy Spirit as further evidence...
