Call of Love

Psalm 121, 'I lift up my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip - He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you - the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and for evermore.' Are you in despair, do you feel overwhelmed by the trials and tribulations you are facing, does it seem like the barrage of bad news, bad breaks and bad luck is unyielding, do you feel like giving up. well friend, am here to tell you that you are not alone. that there is one who loves and cares for you so much and has never stopped loving you, no matter what you have done. It is the LORD God our Savior and refuge, the maker of heaven and ...

Living in Love

Ephesians 4:31,32 'Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.' When we surrender to Christ and accept Him as our LORD, we are born again and receive a new spirit that is like Christ. Through conviction, the word of God and faith, we are supposed to transform our minds and renew our thinking focusing on all that is good. Bitterness, rage, anger, brawling and slander all are present when there is no love. They burden us with hate and we end up living sad, miserable lives. In this we grieve the Holy Spirit that is in us, that was sealed with us for the day of redemption. But God is love and demands that we love one another just as Christ loved us and willingly gave up His life for us. In His love God forgave us of our sins and transgressions, vowing to remember them no more, at the cross when Christ was punished as the Lamb of...

Selfless and Unconditional Love

John 15:9-13, 17, ‘As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends. …This is my command: Love each other.’ Jesus wholly depended on God the Father while He was on earth, and whatever He received from Him, He shared with us, His love, His power and authority. He showed us a perfect example of humility and obedience submitting to the Father’s will to die at the cross as atonement, a sacrifice, for our sins and to provide a way for our salvation. His love for the Father was selfless and unconditional, obeying to the point of shedding His divinity and living as a servant. His love for us was also selfless and unconditional in that He...

Love in Obedience

John 14:15, 21, 23, 24, ‘“If you love me, you will obey what I command.” … “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” … “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teachings. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.”’ God is love and we who He has called to Jesus now love Him because He loved us first. The true testament of loving God is by living a life of total submission and obedience to His will, through His Son Jesus, in our lives. By living a life of obedience to Him, we allow Jesus to come and transform us into His likeness, our minds and our hearts, purging out the impurities within us, molding and shaping us into who He wants us to be in Him, complete and mature just as He is. God is spirit and when we l...

God is Love

John 13: 34, 35, ‘A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’ The world today is very cold. A video about Chinese insensitivity went viral awhile back showing how over ten ordinary people went by a young girl who had been run over by a truck before someone cared enough (ironically it was a person looked down upon by the society) to call for help for her to get medical attention. Unfortunately the young girl did not make it through. Am sure many of us think that if we had been in a similar situation we would have reacted differently, but is this really the case? How many of us when faced with a situation where our fellow human being requires our assistance shrink away, pretending not to have seen them, or move to the other side of the road to avoid coming into contact with them? This is even evident in the church. How many take time to visit with that new ...

Resisting The Devil

1 Peter 5:8,9, ‘Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.’ The Devil is always looking for an opportunity to destroy us, the beloved of God. We are called to be always alert and have self control, because He will use anyone and any situation to try and attack you and drive a wedge between you and your God. Each one of us faces temptations from the Devil that are directed towards our unique individual weaknesses, therefore they may not be the same in kind but are the same in purpose which is to destroy you and make you feel condemned and unloved by God. You should never let go of your faith in God’s faithfulness, love and power because as it is, the Devil stands condemned because He was defeated by Jesus Christ, at the cross, and now like a dangerous wounded lion, He looks...

LOVE – The Testament of A True Christian

Hebrews 13:1-3, ‘Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow-prisoners, and those who are ill-treated as if you yourselves were suffering. Believers are called to live a life of love for others. You cannot say that you love God who you cannot see if you do not love your fellow man who is here with you. On that Great Day, the Son Man when He comes in His full glory, He shall separate those that lived their life in love and reward them accordingly from the rest. These days are characterized by a coldness of the heart and relationships and it is tempting for the church to follow suit but we should not be complacent and become complicit for we have been called to be ambassadors of Christ and as ambassadors we represent the true nature of whom we represent and our God is boundless love and He fills and renews our hearts with His sel...

God Is Love

1 Peter 1:22,23, ‘Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.’ God is love, and the best way you can demonstrate that is by loving Him and loving your fellow brothers and sisters as he showed us. Jesus summarized all the laws into two, love your God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbors as yourself. If you have been touched by the love of Christ in your heart, if you are saved by the Holy blood of Christ, then you must have love, you must preach love for all, and you must exhibit love.
