Resisting The Devil

1 Peter 5:8,9, ‘Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.’ The Devil is always looking for an opportunity to destroy us, the beloved of God. We are called to be always alert and have self control, because He will use anyone and any situation to try and attack you and drive a wedge between you and your God. Each one of us faces temptations from the Devil that are directed towards our unique individual weaknesses, therefore they may not be the same in kind but are the same in purpose which is to destroy you and make you feel condemned and unloved by God. You should never let go of your faith in God’s faithfulness, love and power because as it is, the Devil stands condemned because He was defeated by Jesus Christ, at the cross, and now like a dangerous wounded lion, He looks for whom to maul and devour. God is always with you and will never forsake you, He will not let you face anything beyond your capacity to endure, therefore keep hold of the faith you have placed in Him and you will be able to resist the Devil through the name of Jesus Christ who is now your Lord and Savior.

God of the Heart

Mark 12:38-40, ‘As He taught Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the market places, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at the banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.’ God is a God of the heart. He sees and judges what our motives are rather than our outward appearances.
