The Dead Wisdom

Ephesians 4:17-19, ‘So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of their ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.’ We call ourselves scholars, having access to more information than any other civilization that has ever lived in the world before us, yet with all this knowledge, and our own understanding, we fail to know and understand the truth. The truth that God is there and He loves us so much that He prepared a way for us to be redeemed from the slavery of Sin and under the dominion of Satan through His Son, Jesus Christ, who in His unconditional and selfless love for us, took our place and died for us, suffering punishment in our place that He did not deserve, to complete that purchase. Yet our wisdom shuns this and we have attempted to take God out of our education, out of our leadership and out of our life and what we are left with is selfishness, selfishness that is destroying us and our society, and has created a society that is devoid of love and full of suspicion, strife and hopelessness. Sadly, some of us who have believed in Him are still allowing to be mastered by our carnal and sensual selves. We live using our own wisdom, yet we should be relying on His wisdom by meditating on His word that is full of life. Without God there is no hope, peace, love and joy. We are dead in spirit and the only way to be resurrected is in Christ in faith on the cross. We can sense our deadened spirit and we are filled with that emptiness that we try to fill by indulging in every sensual and carnal desire but sadly, that will not satisfy us. There is only one hope for us and that is to submit ourselves to Jesus Christ as the Lord of our lives, who is the way, the truth , the light and the life.

God of the Heart

Mark 12:38-40, ‘As He taught Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the market places, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at the banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.’ God is a God of the heart. He sees and judges what our motives are rather than our outward appearances. As men, we can deceive each other, living well scripted lives that portray us to be one way, earning the praise and honor of men, but deep down we know the truth about ourselves, we can fool everyone and anyone but ourselves and God. We need to aspire to live like David, only for God. We need to put His purpose above ours. We need to live by His will and not ours. We need to be men and women after God’s hearts.
