Strength in Weakness

1 Corinthians 1:27-31, ‘But God chose the foolish things of this world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of this world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things – and the things that are not – to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us the wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the lord.”’ God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. If you think that you are able to do something on your own, you will lift yourself above God and give honor and glory yourself instead of God. But those that are weak, unable to do in their own strength, God uses them to show His own strength, to make sure that everyone is focused on Him and His will, His purpose, His strength and hence give thanks and glorify Him. It is only a person that knows that he is not able to do it on his own that can fully surrender and depend on God’s strength, ability, promise and grace. We love God because He first loved us. He loved us so much even when we hated Him and were living in rebellion and selfishness in sin that He gave His One and Only Son, to die in our place for our sins, to face and suffer our judgment, and through and in Him to receive eternal life and reunion to and in God. We heed the call to follow Christ because He called us to and not because of our own wisdom. When we receive the word of God, it is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgment so that we are lead to repent and confess Jesus us our Lord and Savior. Let us now boldly and loudly confess that we are nothing without Christ, that He is our refuge, our Savior and our life. Let us confess only in Him.
