Christian Living

Collosians 3:12-17, 'Therefore, as God´s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience . Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Jesus Christ taught us how to live in righteousness. Paul told the Collosians the traits we need to hold dear in our heart as men and women of God namely compassion, kindness, humility, ge

Sin

What is sin? Sin can be described as the violation of the perfect holiness of God or the nature or attitude within us that casues us to do evil/ wrong. Sin causes us to miss the mark or err; to have an active rebellion or transgression against God´s will; be unrighteous; or go astray. So who started sin, who was the first sinner. Most think that Eve was the first sinner but this is not so. The first sinner was satan himself. This can be seen in Ezekiel 28:14-16, ´You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence and you sinned.´ Satan then led other angels in heaven to sin against God. After man was created, Satan again went to woman and convinced her top sin against God as shown in Genesis 3:1-6, 'Now the serpent was more crafty than any of

The Spirit Fights the Brute Within

Man by nature is a sinful being and God is pure and when we accept God in our lives, it creates a conflict between what the Spirit of God in us wants us to do and what the sinful nature desires within us want us to do. The Spirit is antagonistic with our natural desires. Paul captured this well in his letter to the Galatians in Galatians 5:17, 'For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.' So what is the characteristics of both our sinful nature and the Spirit. Paul tells us this in Galatians 5:19-23, 'The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies and the like. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gent

God is for us all

Christianity is usually labelled a Jewish religion and the True living God, a Jewish God by its opponents and naysayers. Jesus Christ told us that salvation was for the man who believed in Him and this is found in John 12:46, 'I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.' So anyone who believes that in Jesus Christ and in effect God Our Lord is entitled to salvation, it is no longer just a birth right. God promises us salvation if we are just , keep the Sabbath and refrain from doing evil in Isaiah 56:2, 'Blessed is the man who does this, the man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.' It is clear that this duty is placed on all men and He even goes further to specifically mention foreigners and eunuchs in Isaiah 56:3, 'Let no foreigner who has bound himself to the Lord say, "the Lord will surely exclude me from his people." And let no e

Heeding God´s Call

God invites everyone to come to Him and this call is made in Isaiah 55:1, 'Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.' All who accept God must do it on their own free volition and what is on offer is free of charge for those that want it. So why is God asking us to go to Him, what is He offering us? God is offering us nourishment of the soul, His love and eternal life to all those who are faithful to him like His servant David as shown in Isaiah 55:2-3, 'Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.' We do not have a lot of time to seek the Lord for it must be done now. We need to make the choi

God is Always With Us

The life of a young christian in these times is brutal full of temptations from the enemy in every aspect of our life. From the comfort of our homes, to the work environment, our social networks are all inclined to make life difficult for one. So how do you overcome? By having faith and trusting in the Lord. The God tells us He will never leave us alone. Jesus Christ gave his disciples and us this assurance when he was ascending in Mathew 28:20, 'and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you to. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.' and also in Hebrew 13:5, '...because God has said, "Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you;"' Just as by faith you accepted Him as your Lord and Saviour then by it must you trust that He is always with you in your times of trials and tribulation. We should be like Paul who while imprisoned told the Hebrews 13:6, 'So we say with confidence, "the Lord is my helper, I will not b
