Strength in God

Psalm 118:10-13, ‘All nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off. They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off. They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off. I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me.’ The world is full of trouble, and we are constantly under attack from the Devil who wants us to lose hope and give up on our inheritance as believers. He will use family, friends, strangers and enemies to try and put us down, persecute us, oppress us, discourage us, mislead us, tempt us so that we may lose our way and not focus on Jesus Christ who is the author and perfecter of our faith and strengthens us through everything. But in all these we should never lose our focus, keeping our eyes on the prize, shedding off all encumbrances that might prevent us from reaching our destination and completing our race by focusing on Jesus, our Lord and Savior, to help us, to strengthen us so that we will not fall when we stumble due to the constant attacks of the enemy. Jesus has already defeated the Devil and He now stands condemned, knowing that His futile efforts will amount to nothing, but He wants to deceive you into giving up this victory by obscuring the truth from your eyes, the truth about God and salvation. Find strength in God and do not yield to the pressures and lies of the enemy, your victory is assured in Jesus. Call on Him and He will strengthen you.

God of the Heart

Mark 12:38-40, ‘As He taught Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the market places, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at the banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.’ God is a God of the heart. He sees and judges what our motives are rather than our outward appearances. As men, we can deceive each other, living well scripted lives that portray us to be one way, earning the praise and honor of men, but deep down we know the truth about ourselves, we can fool everyone and anyone but ourselves and God.
