Confidence in Christ
Hebrews 4:14-16,
´Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through
the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we
profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize
with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every
way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the
throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and
find grace to help us in our time of need.´
A high priest was
chosen of God to offer gifts and sacrifices for man´s sins. Jesus
offered the perfect gift that is final and complete, and that is
Himself, by dying at the cross, so that there is no need for another
sin offering to be made on our behalf.
Since Jesus walked
the earth as the son of man, undergoing all the tests and temptations
that men face, he is able to deal with me gently in my ignorance and
when I go astray, guide my steps in paths of righteousness, so that
by His amazing and abounding grace, He may complete His work in me,
so that I may strengthen my faith in Him and become spiritually
mature, not lacking in anything through my obedience to Him.
And for what
purpose is it, this obedience, so that I may have eternal salvation
through Him that is promised by the Father, to all that obey Him, the
Christ Jesus.
