Joyful Living Amid Trials

Jesus himself told us that this world we live in is full of trouble that we encounter on a daily basis but reassured us that he had already overcome the world. So how are we supposed to live in this world of strife? By being joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.

The scriptures tells us the attitude we need to have when faced with trials and tribulations in James 1:2-4 ´Consider it pure joy , my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking in anything.´ We face these trials as a necessity for growth and strengthening of our faith in God and in order to overcome our sinful nature so that eventually we are able to live naturally in the reborn state of righteousness in Christ Jesus. We are God´s workmanship continually being afforded this opportunities of discomfort that are ultimately meant to make us into complete individuals in Christ. Trials also provide a means of testing our faith so that we may know areas we need to ask the Lord to help us overcome our weaknesses and be ready for the spiritual battle ahead.

My heart rejoices in the knowledge that in all these, we are not alone because the Lord is with us and will not forsake us. He will not let you bear more than your faith can withstand and His grace is sufficient to carry you over when your strength fails you as revealed to us in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, ´But He said to me, ¨My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.¨ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christs´s power may rest on me. That is why for Christ´s sake I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak , then I am strong.´

Remember temptations are not from God but are our own battles with our carnal and covetous desires that lead us astray from God. In Christ we find the perfect helper for He suffered when he faced temptations like us but overcame. Allow Him to be your reservoir, your refuge, your redeemer.
