Hedged In
Psalm 1:6, ‘For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.’
God watches over the way of the righteous, protecting them from evil, any traps laid for them by the enemy Satan, so that no plans formed against them may prosper, and using all things for good for those that love that love Him. Even if a righteous person stumbles, He will not fall, for the Lord is watching over Him. He may lose His way for a moment but God in His faithfulness will provide enough opportunities for him to find his way back.
But the way of the wicked is death for the wages of sin is death, total separation from the love of God, which we receive through Jesus Christ our Lord. The wicked are still slaves to the Prince of this world, the prince of darkness, whose purpose is to rob, kill and destroy. He knows no love and hates those that are loved by God and love God. He persecutes, lies, condemns so that we may lose our focus on who we are in Christ and instead focus on our shortcomings, our weaknesses that make us be burdened by guilt and condemnation.
So come ye all who are burdened and heavy laden, those that need rest, those yoked with the heavy weight of guilt and condemnation and be given rest, by taking the light load of the Lord and do the only work that God requires of you, and that is to believe in the one who He sent – Jesus, the only Son of God – so that you may be saved, that you may be clothed by the righteousness of Christ, and you may be hedged in, covered by the blood of Jesus and have God watch over your way so that Satan cannot come and harm you.
