Always Remember your God
Exodus 32:1-4, ‘When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered round Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what happened to him.” Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing and bring them to me.”
So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”’
How easy and soon we forget us sons of men. When we are afflicted and We call unto God in prayer then He answers us, we rejoice and give praise to Him, but as soon as we are delivered, as soon as we are enjoying God’s blessings, we cast off our God, we put Him aside and devote our time, body and soul to the pursuit of our carnal needs and desires.
We place our faith in what our leaders – political, social, career and/ or media gurus – are telling us to be the gods of our life be it sex, money, self satisfaction, self actualization, career progression and the likes, that we submit to and place above everything else willing to do anything, to cross anyone to achieve them.
How foolish and naïve we are, because all these are but empty shells of what we are seeking which is the love of God Almighty, to praise and worship Him, to submit our lives to Him, to live in obedient love to Him; an inherent need so strong in us that even after achieving all these, it still gnaws away at us, we feel empty, unfulfilled, longing for something that we cannot comprehend.
But alas, when you find your way back to Him, you repent of your sins, you ask for forgiveness and vow to live a life of obedient love to Him, when He renews your spirit and occupies your inside, Oh what peace you find, what joy you experience and what love fills and overflows in your heart.
Be steadfast and do not forget Him who has brought you thus far. Be wise my friend!
