The Light of The World

Matthew 5:13-16, ‘“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” ’ We are called into Christ to be the seasoning of the world, pointing them to the truth that is in Him. We are called, set apart and separated from the world to be in this world but not of this world. The trends and fads of this world should not dictate how we live for we live for a higher purpose. We live for the glory of our Lord! In Christ there is life abundant and we should live in a way that the world will not see you but the Christ that is living in you manifest in every area of your life. Then you will truly be a living Christian and not just a professing Christian. The Lord tells us that we show that we love Him by obeying His commands. We are to love our God and our brothers and sisters. All commandments from God lie upon these two. We are to truly love our God with all our hearts, minds, soul and body. This means that we are willing to sacrifice all to honour and glorify Him, even to the point of death. We truly love our brothers and sisters through our compassion toward them. We should have a heart and an attitude that cares for and strives to better the lives of our brethren spiritually, emotionally and materially. Christ is the light of the world, point to the good that is God and when we have His Spirit in us, we shine that light to the world. The world is full of hate, fear, anxiety, mistrust, lawlessness, rebellion and hopelessness but in Christ we are the answer to all these providing love, peace, joy and hope regardless of our current circumstances. Then through us, the world will come to know of God and glorify His Holy Name because of us and want to know Him the way we do know Him. You were saved so that God could place you before men to point the way to Him so that everyone may come to know that we are saved by His amazing grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, His Son, who gave up His life upon the cross for our sins and was resurrected that we may have life everlasting in Him. We are to be called by His Name everywhere we go as a sign of our faithfulness in Him. We are to stand firm and fight the good fight of faith lest we ourselves after having led many in the right way, stumble and are spewed out because we lost our saltiness. Choose to be a living instead of a professing Christian.

God of the Heart

Mark 12:38-40, ‘As He taught Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the market places, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at the banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.’ God is a God of the heart. He sees and judges what our motives are rather than our outward appearances.
