The Ministry of Preaching and Prayer

Acts 6:1-4 “In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." We all have our place of ministry and those that are called to the ministry of the word of God and intercession should not allow other good things to distract them and turn them away from ministering the word of God to His flock for theirs is key to our survival. They have been given the word that ministers life to the spirit without which we perish. It is written that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. The church of Christ needs the word of God to grow strong in faith by the renewing of their mind. The church needs washing with the word that it may be pure, without spot or blemish as a bride before her groom, our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer for the church corporately or believers individually, is a weapon that we use to seek the Lord’s intercession on our behalf and strength to continue and remain standing in faith even after relentless attacks by the enemy. Prayer is an act of faith, a display of our firm belief in our God to hear and answer the petitions and request we place before Him. But let him who asks in prayer, do so without doubt in their mind or being led by their own selfish desires, lest they do so in vain. The enemy is like a prowling lion seeking whom He may devour and through the washing of the word and prayer, a Christian is replenished with the strength to fight the good fight of faith and emerge victorious, glorifying God.
