Sexual Immorality

1 Corinthians 6:12, 'Everything is permissible for me – but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me – but I will not be mastered by anything. Here Paul was telling the Corinthians as well as us that we have the choice to do anything the human nature wants, our passions and appetites, but not all of it is beneficial for us and we should be masters of our passions and not mastered by them for whoever masters you, you obey.

One of the passions that has mastered most of our current society is the passion of sexual desires. We have been deceived to believe that controlling our sexual desires is next to impossible and we just have to give in, no wonder the oldest profession thrives. Prostitution has gone digital with websites offering you access to this illicit pleasure. Now sex was meant to be sacred to unite man and woman but it has been debased with our current 'merry go round' behavior. Paul explains why casual sex is a great sin in 1 Corinthians 6:16-19, 'Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in Spirit. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who you received from God?'

When you choose to become a Christian by believing that Christ died for your sins, you should not partake in sexual immorality, why? 1 Corinthians 6:20, 'you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.'
