Perseverance

Habakkuk 3:16, ‘I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound; decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us. It takes great trust to patiently wait for a disaster that is fast approaching us when the Lord asks us to but this is what we ought to do in the face of trouble. We need to cast our cares upon him, place our hopes in Him, even when we are overrun by fear of death, and trust in Him that we shall overcome and get to see the end of the calamity facing us. We should face our problems not only when we are courageous but even when in fear, our knees trembling, our heart pounding, and our instincts telling us to run because we are not alone and trust in Him just like Joseph and He will bless us with His Grace no matter our current circumstances

Spirit of Remembrance

Habakkuk 3:2, ‘Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. Often when we are faced with tough times, trials and tribulations of this world, we feel forsaken by God lamenting and crying out to Him, asking why He has forgotten us. We focus so much on the current crisis and the darkness enveloping us in the pit we are in that we forget about the crisis that we had faced in the past and how the same God we are crying out as having forsaken us helped us then and lifted us out of the pit that we were in. The God we serve is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever and therefore if He has saved you once He will do it again. All we need to do is be patient and trusting. Whenever we are faced with these situations and we feel despair creeping in, remind yourself of the times past, that you have seen the saving arm of the Lord in your life. Our God is a merciful God and He will show...

The Lamb of God

John 1:29-31, ‘The next day John saw Jesus coming towards him and said, “Look, the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A Man who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me.’ I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that He might be revealed to Israel.’ Jesus was there from the beginning of time and through Him everything in the world was created. Yet this same God shed His divinity to come and partake in the earthly world living as man so that He might redeem us back to Himself. John the Baptist did not feel worthy to baptize Jesus knowing who He was but he had to do it to satisfy all the requirement of the Laws. John the Baptist was baptizing with water in order to reveal to Israel the meaning of the baptism of the Spirit that was to come through Jesus Christ. As the Lamb Jesus was sacrificed by His father at the cross, suffering death so that man could have the confidence to come to ...

The Sin of Adultery

Mathew 5:28,29, ‘But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. Jesus gave us the real interpretation of the law against adultery that He gave to us at the mount through Moses. Even looking at a woman lustfully is adultery because as a man thinks so he is. Most of us try to legalize sin and for those of us in marriages do the same in regards to adultery. We call it ‘cheating’, and say if I flirt or if I admire or if I only touch am not cheating, after all I did not sleep with him/ her, it was only harmless fun, yet we do not realize the harm it is doing to our marriage. Pornography and to some extent strip clubs also damages the relationship between couples in a marriage as we start to fantasize about the people we saw and what they were doing and event...

Focus on Jesus

Mathew 14:29-31, ‘“Come,” he (Jesus) said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.’ Many of us when we receive an inspiring word from God, we are full of faith and we believe in Jesus. We take hold of the promise God has put in us and move in power in it accomplishing amazing and supernatural feats, walking on water so to speak. At that moment our eyes are firmly fixed on Jesus who is our Lord. But the moment we start to experience some turbulence, opposition, trouble, we start to doubt, we panic and start to focus on them rather than on who gave us the promise and power and our faith in the promise of God start to weaken and then we begin to sink. At that moment our Lord who is faithful and full of love for us reaches out and catches us from sinking in the dark bottomless pit. For our faith to gr...

The Peace of God

Mathew 8:24, ‘Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.’ John 14:27, ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’ What kind of peace did Jesus posses that even in the midst of a fierce storm that had experienced sailors like Peter and John worried of capsizing, He slept soundly. That must be awesome fear-conquering peace and the good thing is that He bequeathed that peace, His peace, to His believers. This is the kind of peace that gives you calm assurance in spite of the circumstance that you are facing. A peace that allows you to rejoice in your suffering, to have a happiness that is not controlled by your moods, circumstances or situation. The world is full of troubles but we as believers have an awesome power at our disposal but sadly for most of us we are not aware and therefore do not take possession of...

The Real Bridegroom of the Church

Luke 1:76,77, ‘And you my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sin.’ John 3:27-30, ‘To this John replied, “A man can receive only what is given to him from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him.’ The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less. John the Baptist teaches us a very important lesson on how we should view our service to God. He knew his purpose on this earth which was to prepare the way for Jesus, the Messiah. Through his baptism with water, Israel was to be given knowledge of God’s purpose of forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ who would baptize by spirit. W...

Our Redeemer

Isaiah 40:31, ‘…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.’ For those of us who trust in Him, God is our source of strength for He renew us, giving us a new birth spiritually in Christ Jesus and then our heart and mind follow and then physically we are able to withstand, survive all hardships that are thrown up against us. O how I rejoice in the assurance that my hope is not in vain because He is my redeemer and my salvation.

The Humility Of Christ

Philippians 2:3-8, ‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross!’ Consider this: The creator of everything set aside His divinity in Heaven to come and live as a mere man in all aspects, living in total obedience to the Father and going to the cross for the sake of humanity, showing us the perfect example of how to live the life of servitude to others. Our carnal nature is selfish and leads us to only think of “number one” but as new spiritual beings that are reborn in the likeness ...

Aliens Of The Land

1 Peter 2:11,12, ‘Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us.’ In Christ we are new creatures, not of this world but of the world to come whereupon the Son of Man shall reign and purge sin from our midst and as we joyously wait for that time, we must continue to wait steadfastly, living like ambassadors of the Kingdom of God, abstaining from succumbing to our sinful nature that is dead to us, even though the Devil may tempt us and be examples to the world by our life and good deeds and through this bring glory to our God.

The Chosen People Of God

1 Peter 2:9,10, ‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.’ God has called us who believe in Christ into His family to be His sons and daughters. We belong to Him through Jesus and as faithful children we are supposed to honor Him with praise and worship for He us brought us out of the clutches of the Devil into His wonderful light that now shines in and through us so that we cannot remain hidden but testify to the world of His glorious love for man and His sweet promise to them that believe in Jesus Christ. We have received mercy for all our sins, not because we are righteous but as a gift from Him to bring us closer to Himself, by our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Sin and Righteousness

Jobs 35:6-8, ‘If you sin, how does that affect Him (God)? If your sins are many, what does that do to Him? If you are righteous, what do you give to Him, or what does He receive from your hand? Your wickedness affects only a man like yourself, and your righteousness only the sons of men.’ Most of us tend to think that by not sinning we are doing God a favor but to think of it, how does it affect Him if we kill, steal, rob, commit, adultery and all manner of sins. It only men like you that you are causing harm to that are feeling the effects of your sins but God loves each one of us immensely and it grieves Him when we hurt each other. There is no way that you can claim to love God yet you hate your fellow man, it is just absurd and duplicitous because you cannot harbor both feelings in your heart at the same time and a true testament of a believer of Christ is love for your fellow man.

We Have All That We Need In Him

1 Corinthians 1:4-9, ‘I always thank God for you because of His grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in Him you have been enriched in every way – in all your speaking and in all your knowledge – because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. We that have been called into fellowship with Christ have been presented before God’s throne of grace in Him. His sufficient grace is unmerited mercy, favor, love that we have received from Him through Jesus Christ so that we are equipped with everything that we need to live this life in joy, peace and stability. We have the ability in Him to remain steadfast in His love to the end as we wait upon His return because He strengthens us and on tha...

Pleasing Sacrifice To God

Hebrews 13:15-16, ‘Through Jesus, therefore let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that confess His name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. To offer the sacrifice that pleases my Lord God, I praise Him from the depths of my heart singing songs of praise and worship confessing Him Lord of my life and loving others to the extent of doing good and sharing with them. Let us offer sacrifices worthy of God’s approval.

The Great I AM

Hebrews 13:7-9, ‘Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace... Our God is who He is and anyone trying to mislead you otherwise is a just a plain old liar. He is not man to change His mind, to break His promises, to love and embrace what He abhors, Sin. We are to live our life of faith according to the model set by and the teachings given to us by Jesus Christ. Only then can we remain blameless and shall not be swayed by these teachings that try to mislead us to our eternal damnation because when we remain in the love of Jesus and obey Him, we cannot be taken out of His hand.

LOVE – The Testament of A True Christian

Hebrews 13:1-3, ‘Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow-prisoners, and those who are ill-treated as if you yourselves were suffering. Believers are called to live a life of love for others. You cannot say that you love God who you cannot see if you do not love your fellow man who is here with you. On that Great Day, the Son Man when He comes in His full glory, He shall separate those that lived their life in love and reward them accordingly from the rest. These days are characterized by a coldness of the heart and relationships and it is tempting for the church to follow suit but we should not be complacent and become complicit for we have been called to be ambassadors of Christ and as ambassadors we represent the true nature of whom we represent and our God is boundless love and He fills and renews our hearts with His sel...

Choosing Your Master

Hebrews 13:5, ‘Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” ’ In whom or what have you placed your trust and hopes. Is it your wealth and money, like the rich young man that came to Jesus asking for the way to salvation, or is it in God? Having money is not a sin in itself but loving it to the extent that you are not willing to give it up for the glory of God is. Jesus told us that it is impossible to love two masters, you will love one and hate the other so do not mislead yourself into thinking that you can love both to the same degree. The society we live in is one of scarcity mentality where we are conditioned (thanks to the Devil and our carnal nature) to want to accumulate more than we need. We are never content with what we have. It is never enough no matter how much we have. We want to have a sense of security and obtain our value about ourselves from what we have, our...

Honoring Marriage

Hebrews 13:4, ‘Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.’ The world is trying so much to dishonor the marriage bed. There all kinds of things that are promoting adultery and sexual immorality and the worse thing is that they have been even made accessible to our children. The FM shows we listen to on our way to work and school and when we come back in the evening, the tv shows being aired during prime time when children are watching tv, the innuendos in some of the cartoons they show all promote sexual licentiousness. We have become so immune and accustomed to it that it has become normal to us that even the church is allowing some of it all in the name of being liberal. The dresses/ skirts are becoming shorter, the trousers tighter, the messages diluted, and their lecherous intentions more vivid. Our bodies are the Lord’s temple so we should respect them by offering them in holy sacrifice and ...

Shaking The Unwanted Loose

Hebrews 12:25-29, ‘See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? At that time His voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken – that is, created things – so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” ’ You shake a rag that has dust to purge the dust from the rag and so it is with the second coming of Jesus where He shall shake both heaven and earth to purge the sinful and sin from the midst of the righteous so that those that will be present in the kingdom to come will be glorified and be from the presence of sin. Satan and the powers ...

Strife And Carnality

Hebrews 12:14-17, ‘Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no-one will see the Lord. See to it that no-one misses the grace of God and to that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. See that no-one is sexually immorally, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. Afterwards, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. He could bring about no change of mind, though he sought the blessings with tears.’ Strife among us steals peace without which, we are prone to have bitterness that brings rebellion and disobedience and fall from the grace of God. We need to put our carnality in check because it is our weakness in our walk in Christ of righteousness without which we shall not be able to see God. Carnal lusts breed sexual immorality and godlessness where we become susceptible to temptations from the great deceiver. Let us remember that on that day of ...

The Discipline of Sons

Hebrew 12:5-12, ‘And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, and punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” Endure hardship as a discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your ...

The Power of Faith

Hebrews 11:20-40, ‘By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and in Esau in regard to their future. By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and worshipped as he leaned on the top of his staff. By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions about his bones. By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be ill-treated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who was invincible. By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood,...

God’s Wrath Against Mankind

Romans 1:18-32, ‘The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and Divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and se...

Who Do You Chose To Believe

Hebrews 12:1-3, ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you do not grow weary and lose heart.’ As believers we know that the physical realm is not the only one in the world, but there are powerful and forces, both good and bad, in the spiritual realm that are watching us live our lives as we try to accomplish the purpose and will of God for our lives. The evil one, the great deceiver Satan, tries to dissuade us, divert us, confuse us, blind us so that we may lose our way in disobedience and rebellion to God’s will and not finish the race before us. The righteou...

The Father Abraham

Hebrews 11:17-19, ‘By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice His one and only Son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.’ Abraham is the father of all those that have unshakeable faith in God, those that believe in God in spite of the current situation because they believe in the faithfulness and love of their God. In our journey to spiritual maturity, we are tested and tried in all manner of ways so that we may grow and become strong, so that when the tempter comes to us, we will be able to resist. God will not test us beyond what we can handle within our current skin, our current ability. Abraham was tested to see if he valued His blessing of a son more than he did His God and Savior. So are we in our lives, God tests us to expose our...

Walking in Faith

Hebrews 11:7-16, ´By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as an inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.´ By faith Abraham, even though he was past age – and Sarah herself was barren – was enabled to become a father because he considered Him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he was as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. All these people were still living by fai...

How to Please God

Hebrews 11:3-6, ´By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God´s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what is visible. By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead. By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.´ The only way we can please God is by Having faith in Him. By believing in His Son, whom He sent because of the love He felt for us, by faith believing that your sins are forgiven and you have been clothed with eternal life by His resurrection, by faith believing that He will answer all your pray...

Solace to the World

2 Corinthians 1:3,4 – Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. We who are children of God, need not worry about the troubles of this world because we have been bequeathed the peace of Jesus Christ, we know that God is always with us and in us, that He shall never forsake us, that His plans for us are good and create hope in us for a good future, that He works all things for the good of all that that believe in Him, and He has asked us to care all our cares on Him. Therefore when confronted with troubles of this world do not be afraid, pray for God’s compassion and you will receive comfort and peace from them. But we should not just enjoy the comfort alone but when we see the suffering and down trodden of this world we should have the same compassion showered on us by God for them a...

The Way of Salvation

Hebrews 10:1-4, ´The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming – not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sin, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.’ There are two ways to get salvation from our sins. The first one is by us being Holy from the time we are born till we die. This should be done by fully observing the laws of God in spirit and not like the Pharisees, who misinterpret the law to suit their way of life but as God would want you to (like lusting after a woman in your mind is considered adultery!), an impossible feat for throughout all the period of mankind, no one has ever done it except one...

The Perfect Sacrifice

Hebrews 9:16-18 and 9:22-28, ´ In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. It was necessary, then, for copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ did not enter a man made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true on; He entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God´s presence. Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, the way the High Priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now He has...
