The Humility Of Christ

Philippians 2:3-8, ‘Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross!’ Consider this: The creator of everything set aside His divinity in Heaven to come and live as a mere man in all aspects, living in total obedience to the Father and going to the cross for the sake of humanity, showing us the perfect example of how to live the life of servitude to others. Our carnal nature is selfish and leads us to only think of “number one” but as new spiritual beings that are reborn in the likeness of Christ should be humble in our assessment of ourselves so as not to place ourselves ahead of others and also care for the needs and interests of others as we do our own. Only then will we be living our life as the true humble servants of Christ.
