Solace to the World

2 Corinthians 1:3,4 – Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. We who are children of God, need not worry about the troubles of this world because we have been bequeathed the peace of Jesus Christ, we know that God is always with us and in us, that He shall never forsake us, that His plans for us are good and create hope in us for a good future, that He works all things for the good of all that that believe in Him, and He has asked us to care all our cares on Him. Therefore when confronted with troubles of this world do not be afraid, pray for God’s compassion and you will receive comfort and peace from them. But we should not just enjoy the comfort alone but when we see the suffering and down trodden of this world we should have the same compassion showered on us by God for them and give them comfort so that they may see the glory of God in your calmness and peace.

God of the Heart

Mark 12:38-40, ‘As He taught Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the market places, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at the banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.’ God is a God of the heart. He sees and judges what our motives are rather than our outward appearances. As men, we can deceive each other, living well scripted lives that portray us to be one way, earning the praise and honor of men, but deep down we know the truth about ourselves, we can fool everyone and anyone but ourselves and God. We need to aspire to live like David, only for God. We need to put His purpose above ours. We need to live by His will and not ours. We need to be men and women after God’s hearts.
