Being a Good Employee

Titus 2:9-11, ‘Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.’ As a believer, every aspect of your life should be lived as an ambassador, modeling the life of a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven. As servants we are required to live in humility, doing our work diligently so as to please our employers/ bosses with the quality of our work, being respectful and not arguing with them, being a person of integrity and not stealing from them their time, their resources, so that we can be trustworthy and gain their trust. This is living worthy of a believer of Christ as it demonstrates love for your fellow man which is in accordance with His teachings.

God of the Heart

Mark 12:38-40, ‘As He taught Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the market places, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at the banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.’ God is a God of the heart. He sees and judges what our motives are rather than our outward appearances. As men, we can deceive each other, living well scripted lives that portray us to be one way, earning the praise and honor of men, but deep down we know the truth about ourselves, we can fool everyone and anyone but ourselves and God. We need to aspire to live like David, only for God. We need to put His purpose above ours. We need to live by His will and not ours. We need to be men and women after God’s hearts.
