A Man’s Heart

Proverbs 27:19, ‘As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.’ What is in a man’s heart determines the his character. If evil rules his heart then his plans, actions and words will be full of evil, deceit, hate and strife but if good rules his heart then he will be rules by joy, peace, truth and love. Therefore to really know a man, you need to know what he carries in his heart. This requires wisdom because what a man stores in his heart may not be easily discernible but through wisdom, you can draw him out even if he attempts to hide his true self and motives.

God of the Heart

Mark 12:38-40, ‘As He taught Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the market places, and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at the banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.’ God is a God of the heart. He sees and judges what our motives are rather than our outward appearances. As men, we can deceive each other, living well scripted lives that portray us to be one way, earning the praise and honor of men, but deep down we know the truth about ourselves, we can fool everyone and anyone but ourselves and God.
